WINTER BAND CONCERT WAS AN ABSOLUTE BLAST
THE CHASKA MIDDLE SCHOOL WEST BANDS PRESENTED THEIR WINTER BAND CONCERTS ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19 IN THE CHASKA MIDDLE SCHOOL WEST LARGE GYM.

THE 6TH GRADE BAND STARTED THINGS OFF AT 6 P.M. WITH SOME SONGS THEY PERFORMED ON THEIR RECENT TOUR INCLUDING “GALANT MARCH” AND “ABOVE AND BEYOND”.  THEY ALSO PERFORMED FOR THE FIRST TIME “ROCKY MOUNTAIN ROMP” AND “AND THE BELLS SHALL RING”.  THEY CLOSED THE CONCERT WITH TWO MOVIE FAVORITES:  “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” AND “STAR WARS”.

THE 7TH GRADE BAND TOOK TO THE “STAGE” AT 7 P.M. WITH A PATRIOTIC-THEMED PERFORMANCE.  THE BAND SALUTED OUR MILITARY AND HONORED THE COUNTRY WE LIVE IN WITH A COMBINATION OF PATRIOTIC FAVORITES AND AMERICAN-BORN POPULAR SONGS INCLUDING “SING SING SING” AND “ROCK IN AMERICA”. THE LATTER ORIGINALLY BY THE ROCK BAND NIGHT RANGER ACTUALLY REQUESTED A COPY OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR SONG.  IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THEY THINK!

FINALLY, THE 8TH GRADE BANDS PLAYED A WIDE ARRAY OF MUSIC INCLUDING FRANK ERICKSON’S “SONATINA FOR BAND”, ROBERT SHELDON’S “THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS” AND TWO SONGS PENNED BY DIRECTOR ERIC SONGER, AN ORIGINAL COMPOSITION ABOUT THE FUTURE CALLED “IMMINENT UNFOLDING” AND A MEDLEY OF SONGS FROM THE THIS MUSICAL “HAMILTON”.  

THE BANDS WILL NEXT PERFORM AT THEIR SPRING CONCERT ON TUESDAY, MAY 15.
