FIRST EVER 8TH GRADE BAND TOUR WAS A SUCCESS
LAST YEAR THE THREE 8TH GRADE BAND DIRECTORS IN DISTRICT 112 PUT THEIR HEADS TOGETHER AND CAME UP WITH A BRAND NEW EVENT FOR THE 8TH GRADE BAND MEMBERS. THAT EVENT CAME TO FRUITION MAY 18 WHEN THE PIONEER RIDGE, CHASKA MIDDLE SCHOOL-EAST AND CHASKA MIDDLE SCHOOL-WEST 8TH GRADE BANDS VOYAGED OUT ON THE FIRST EVER DISTRICT 112 8TH GRADE BAND TOUR.

THE GOALS OF THE TOUR INCLUDED GIVING STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR OTHER MIDDLE SCHOOL BANDS, GETTING A CHANCE TO PERFORM OUTSIDE OF THE THE COMMUNITY, GETTING A CLINIC FROM A COLLEGIATE MUSIC EDUCATOR, VISITING A COLLEGE CAMPUS AND TEAM BUILDING.

THE BANDS ACCOMPLISHED THESE GOALS BY GOING TO ANOTHER MIDDLE SCHOOL AND DOING AN EXCHANGE CONCERT. CMSE VISITED GLENWOOD CITY, PRM WENT TO COTTAGE GROVE AND CMSW WAS WELCOMED BY VALLEY VIEW M.S. IN EDINA. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY LUNCH, A TOUR AND A CLINIC AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE. THE CLINIC WAS GIVEN BY UWEC TROMBONE PROFESSOR AND BAND DIRECTOR PHIL OSTRANDER WHO WAS EXCELLENT. AFTER THIS THE BAND MEMBERS ENJOYED SOME TEAM BUILDING AT ACTION CITY FUN PARK IN EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN.

TO ADD A GOAL TO THE LIST, THIS ALSO BE A WAS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY FOR 8TH GRADERS TO ENJOY ONE FINAL PERFORMANCE TOGETHER AS A CLASS AND TO CELEBRATE THREE GREAT YEARS OF MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND!
