RIVER CITY DAYS FEATURED GREAT STUDENT MUSICIANS
FOR THE ELEVENTH STRAIGHT YEAR, SONGERSTUDIO, DISTRICT 112 COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND THE DISTRICT 112 MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT COMBINED TO PRESENT AN INCREDIBLE THREE-PLUS HOURS OF MUSIC AND AN ENTRY IN THE PARADE AT CHASKA RIVER CITY DAYS

RIVER CITY DAYS IS THE INCREDIBLE COMMUNITY SUMMER FESTIVAL THAT TOOK PLACE THE WEEKEND OF JULY 27-29.  THE EVENT INCLUDED FOOD, GAMES, ACTIVITIES, LOCAL VENDORS AND OF COURSE ENTERTAINMENT.  

THE SONGERSTUDIO GROUPS PERFORMED FROM 11:30 A.M.-2:30 P.M. ON SATURDAY, JULY 28 AT THE GAZEBO IN THE CENTER OF CHASKA CITY SQUARE PARK.  THE 180-MINUTE EXTRAVAGANZA FEATURED THE MOVIE BAND (CONSISTING OF INCOMING 6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADERS PLAYING MOVIE THEMES), THE JAZZ BAND, THE COUNTRY/BLUEGRASS BAND AND FIVE ROCK BANDS (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE GARAGE BANDS).  THESE BANDS AND STUDENTS ARE DIRECTED AND TAUGHT BY ERIC SONGER, HEIDI SONGER, NEAL NORDSTROM, MIKE HOWE AND KRIS STAUFFER.  THE BANDS PLAYED A VARIETY OF MUSIC INCLUDING FUN MOVIE THEMES, GREAT BIG BAND SWING MUSIC, TRADITIONAL BLUEGRASS, CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY AND ROCK AND ROLL HITS FROM THROUGHOUT THE DECADES.  

ON SUNDAY, JULY 29 AT 1 P.M., THE MARCHING BAND WAS PART OF THE RIVER CITY DAYS PARADE WHICH WOUND THROUGH THE STREETS OF DOWNTOWN CHASKA.    

ALL OF THESE PERFORMANCES MARKED THE CONCLUSION OF A VERY FUN SUMMER SEASON OF MUSIC WHERE ALL OF THESE STUDENTS REHEARSED ONCE A WEEK IN ORDER TO PERFORM, BUT ALSO TO KEEP UP THEIR CHOPS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.  OVER 200 STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED IN THE SONGERSTUDIO SUMMER PROGRAM THIS YEAR.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PARENTS, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.  AND THANK YOU TO RIVER CITY DAYS ORGANIZERS TIM SEBENALER AND BOB SNYDER FOR HAVING OUR GROUPS OUT TO PERFORM.
