LINDQUIST BENEFIT RETURNS SEPTEMBER 22
IT WILL BE ANOTHER AMAZING LINDQUIST BENEFIT CONCERT ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 AT CHANHASSEN HIGH SCHOOL AS MANY OF THE DISTRICT 112 MUSIC TEACHERS PERFORM FOR THE COMMUNITY. TIME 7 P.M.

THE CONCERT IS DONE IN HONOR OF JEAN LINDQUIST, A MUSIC TEACHER IN DISTRICT 112 WHO PASSED AWAY FROM COMPLICATION OF LEUKEMIA IN 1997 AT THE AGE OF 30. PROCEEDS FROM THE CONCERT ARE PUT INTO A FUND WHICH FORMS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SENIORS AT CHASKA AND CHANHASSEN HIGH SCHOOL WHO PLAN TO CONTINUE PERFORMING IN COLLEGE.

IN 2016, WHEN THE LAST CONCERT WAS HELD, THE CONCERT RAISED $1,200 AS AN ENTERTAINED AUDIENCE WATCHED PERFORMANCES RANGING FROM SOLOS TO FULL COMPANY ENSEMBLES.

IN 2016, THERE WERE SOME DAZZLING SOLOS AS CHOIR DIRECTOR CAROLINE SWANSON AND ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR KATE KOWALKOSKI WOWED THE CROWD. SMALL ENSEMBLES INCLUDED A BRASS OCTET, WOODWIND QUINTET, ORFF ENSEMBLE AND A RENDITION OF PENTATONIX’S “RATHER BE”.

CHOIR DIRECTOR ELI JOHNSON WAS FEATURED ON A COVER OF “STACY’S MOM” AND A SMALL GROUP OF DIRECTORS PULLED OFF THE DIRTY LOOPS’ COVER OF “WAKE ME UP”. STUDENT MUSICIANS ALSO JOINED IN ON OCCASION INCLUDING CHANHASSEN HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR BJORN SWANSON PERFORMING A WONDERFUL TROMBONE SOLO.

THE STAFF COMBINED TO SING “CABARET” AND THE TRADITIONAL CLOSER “SO LONG FAREWELL”.

NOT EVERY SCHOOL DISTRICT CAN BOAST A CONCERT ORGANIZED AND PUT ON BY ITS MUSIC TEACHERS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A UNIQUE AND SPECIAL EVENT THAT HELPS DEDICATED STUDENTS AFFORD COLLEGE AND ALSO HELPS US REMEMBER A VERY SPECIAL PERSON.
