GARAGE/COUNTRY BAND TO TOUR FEBRUARY 15 ROCKS!
IT KIND OF STARTED LAST YEAR WHEN THE GARAGE BANDS WERE INVITED TO PLAY AT THE STATE MUSIC EDUCATION CONVENTION AND THE SONGERS SCHEDULED A “WARM UP” RUN AT THE MALL OF AMERICA.  NOW IT HAS TURNED INTO A TOUR THAT THE COUNTRY AND GARAGE BANDS CLOSE THEIR SEASON WITH.

THIS YEAR’S TOUR TOOK PLACE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15.  ALL THREE GARAGE BANDS AND THE COUNTRY BAND HIT THE ROAD FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND HEAD TO BLUFF CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN CHANHASSEN TO PLAY FOR SOME FUTURE MEMBERS OF THE PROGRAM AND OTHER MUSIC FANS IN CASEY BARKER’S MUSIC CLASSES.

AFTER A STOP FOR LUNCH, THE BANDS HEADED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-RIVER FALLS WHERE MUSIC EDUCATION PROFESSOR PAUL BUDDE HAS HELPED BUILD AN AMAZING MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM.  THE BANDS PERFORMED FOR FUTURE MUSIC TEACHERS AT UWRF.  

THEN AFTER ANOTHER QUICK MEAL STOP, THE BAND ARRIVED FOR ITS FINAL GIG AT AN AMAZING VENUE: THE GARAGE AT 75 CIVIC CENTER PARKWAY IN BURNSVILLE AT 6:45 P.M. THE BANDS WERE JOINED BY THE HIGH SCHOOL GARAGE BANDS AT THIS PERFORMANCE IN WHAT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT OF MUSIC.

SONGS INCLUDED HUEY LEWIS’S “HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL”, CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S “BLOWN AWAY”, SANTANA’S “GAME OF LOVE”, THE TURTLES’ “HAPPY TOGETHER”, JOAN JETT’S “I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL” AND SO MUCH MORE!
